Serving Suggestions

This Mint and Lime Refresher is perfect for outdoor gatherings like braais or barbecues. It’s also a wonderful, cooling drink for pool parties or any casual summer get-together. Serve it chilled in tall glasses with lots of ice and extra mint leaves for garnish. If you’re looking for a fun twist, turn it into popsicles or ice cubes and store them in the freezer. Just pop the cubes into a glass later, add Sprite and lemon twist, and voilà—instant refreshment!

Make-Ahead Options

  • Popsicle version: Freeze the slush in popsicle molds, and when you’re ready to enjoy, dip them in a glass of Sprite for a fizzy, icy treat.
  • Ice cube version: Freeze the mixture in ice cube trays and store it in the freezer. When you need a quick refresher, add a few cubes to a glass, pour Sprite over, and you’re all set.

FAQs

Can I use soda water instead of Sprite?
Yes, for a less sweet version, you can replace Sprite with soda water, but you may want to add a bit more sugar or lime cordial to balance the flavors.

How long can the slush be stored in the freezer?
You can keep the frozen slush for up to 1 month. Just take it out, let it thaw slightly, and top with Sprite when ready to serve.

Notes

  • For a stronger mint flavor, add a few more mint leaves when blending the mixture.
  • If you prefer it less sweet, reduce the amount of sugar to ¾ cup.
  • You can easily double this recipe for larger parties. Just ensure you have enough freezer space for the slush!
