Fricadals
Fricadals are delicious, spiced chicken patties that are perfect for any occasion. Originating from South African cuisine, these mini kebabs are not only tasty but also incredibly versatile. They can be served as a main dish or as an appetizer at gatherings, making them a hit at family meals or celebrations.
I love making Fricadals when I have friends over or during festive occasions. The combination of tender chicken, flavorful spices, and the softness from the bread creates a mouthwatering experience with every bite. They can be enjoyed on their own, or paired with bread, puri, or roti for a satisfying meal. Plus, these patties can be made ahead of time and frozen, making them a convenient option for busy days.

- 1 ½ tsp crushed cumin
- ½ cup freshly chopped coriander (dhania)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- Ghee or butter (for frying)

Arrange the patties on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer them to a zip-top bag or airtight container for longer storage. - Fry and Steam:
When ready to cook, thaw the patties. Heat ghee or butter in a pan over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of water to the pan, cover, and steam on low heat until the patties are cooked through and tender. - Serve:
